Daniel Rushkoff, author of Program or Be Programmed, says that computer programming is the new literacy of the digital age. Luckily, the number of classes in computer literacy for kids just keeps growing, along with the interest of kids themselves. An 12th grader, 16-year old Emma is the Founder of Timeless, a mobile app that to help Alzheimer’s patients remember events, stay connected and engaged with friends and family, and to recognize people through artificial intelligence-based facial recognition technology.
Callum Daniel, born in 2008, is the founder of iCodeRobots, a technology company focused on giving children of all backgrounds and income levels access to classes in coding and building robots as well as a wide range of current and future tech. At 7 years old he became one of the youngest CEOs in the UK.
Charles Yeh was 14 when he collaborated with Alan Becker and programmed Animator vs. Animation, a cartoon series that became a YouTube sensation in 2007.
Samaira Mehta is not only a coder, but also a board game designer and CEO of her own company. She began coding at age 6 and created the game CoderBunnyz, with the help of her little brother, to teach other children how to code. She went on to design two more games, CoderMindz and CoderMarz.
Anvitha Vijay was 9 years old when she because the youngest app developer at WWDC 2016, Apple’s annual developer conference. She was singled out by Tim Cook as one of the best, brightest, and youngest app developers in the world.
Emmanuella Oziofu Mayaki, is from Edo state in Nigeria. She became interested in computer programming at age 7 and now teaches coding to students at the Southfield Primary School in the United Kingdom.
Tanmay Bakshi, 16, is a computer programmer and artificial intelligence expert, public speaker, teacher, and author. He created his first app at age 9 and became fascinated by AI by 11, at which point he drew the attention of IBM.
Munashe Machiwenyika, a 17 year old student from Maranatha High School in Harare, developed a virtual assistant application aimed at improving communication efficiency at professional level. He designed the application to ensure that school-related messages are not missed by students or parents when using their smartphones.
Young Game Designers is an initiative by BAFTA that inspires and supports kids ages 10-18 to create, develop and present their new game idea to the world.

Nick D'Aloisio was 16 when he received $300,000 in venture capital his iOS app, Trimit. He redesigned the app and renamed it Summly, which aimed to solve perceived problems with the way news articles are presented on smartphones. He sold the app for $30 million two years later.
